Bibles For Abortion?
Commercialized Christianity is rearing its ugly head once again but with far more serious and deadly consequences. The Susan G. Komen Foundation has come out with pink covered Bibles called the Here’s Hope Breast Cancer Awareness Bible. WalMart.com describes it this way:
“The Here’s Hope Breast Cancer Bible is a reminder that God has not forgotten you, a friend, or loved one who has been impacted by breast cancer. Not only will you find encouragement and inspiration through testimonies from breast cancer survivors but more importantly you’ll encounter God’s life-sustaining words for you.”
Seems innocent enough, doesn’t it? I mean, who is against breast cancer awareness? Who thinks that those fighting breast cancer, or those who have survived the deadly disease, couldn’t benefit from a Bible and encouragement specific to their fight?
No one.
There is a HUGE problem with this Bible. Approximiately 5% of the purchase price will go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation who, just last year, gave over half a million dollars to the nations largest abortion provider Planned Parenthood.
The pink Bible publisher is B&H Publishing, a division of Lifeway Resources. Lifeway materials show up in Christian bookstores all over the country and it’s almost certain that, if you shop Christian bookstores, you own something from Lifeway. Most likely this is a mere oversight on the part of both the publisher and its parent company. However, it is an egregious oversight given the abundance of factual information about Komen’s support of Planned Parenthood.
We can’t support this Bible and we ask those who care about the sanctity of human life, those who love and support our ministry and those who follow Christ not to support it either. A pink breast cancer awareness Bible may seem a wonderful inspirational gift for the breast cancer fighter/survivor in your family or circle of friends. However, making this purchase is directly providing funding for abortion. It’s a donation to death.
We encourage you to contact Lifeway (click here) and its affiliate publisher B&H (click here) and ask them stop this project immediately.
God’s Word provides hope to those facing seemingly hopeless circumstances like breast cancer. The Here’s Hope Breast Cancer Awareness Bible, while accurately conveying God’s Word, actually dashes the hope of the unborn and the women that will suffer from post abortion physical and emotional pain.
It crushes life and hope by changing a seemingly Kingdom minded purchase into blood money.
UPDATE
Lifeway Pulls Susan G. Komen Pink Bible
Lifeway Christian Bookstores has taken the pink Bible, sold to fund the Komen breast cancer foundation (which funds Planned Parenthood), off of its bookshelves.
Lifeway issued the following statement which we learned of courtesy of LifeNews:
We made a mistake.
As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, B&H Publishing Group released to several mass market retailers a Cancer Awareness Bible as a way to place God’s Word into the hands of those suffering through breast cancer. As part of the project, B&H agreed to donate $1 from the sale of each Bible to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation for breast health education, screening and treatment programs.
As this project has developed, we realized it was a mistake.
When our leadership discovered the overwhelming concern that some of Komen’s affiliates were giving funds to Planned Parenthood, we began the arduous process of withdrawing this Bible from the market. Though we have assurances that Komen’s funds are used only for breast cancer screening and awareness, it is not in keeping with LifeWay’s core values to have even an indirect relationship with Planned Parenthood.
B&H’s mission to advance the gospel through distribution of God’s Word is unchanged, so we will continue to seek innovative ways that are in keeping with LifeWay’s core values.

In the interest of full accuracy it should be noted that LifeWay Christian Stores did not carry this Bible. It was produced for big retailers like Wal-Mart.
Thank you for your comment Fred. After a few calls to check facts it turns out that Lifeway Christian Stores primarily produced this Bible for big box retailers but that some of their stores may have carried the Bible. Regardless, it certainly speaks to their integrity and commitment to the Word of God that they went through the costly and arduous process of removing them from the market. They should be applauded and thanked for that!
